Explorers Of The Shape Of Things To Come

The people of r-spec are diverse in age, origin, gender, politics. They include computer programmers and poets, biologists and lawyers, web designers and physicians, business owners and award-winning novelists, philosophers and public relations persons, academicians and dancers, marketing consultants and zen practitioners.

Participants in R-spec are is multinational, multiethnic. multilingual, multi-facteted, multi-talented.They have only one thing in common -- a cultivated talent for seeing possibilities that others miss, and sensing the implications that, unfolding, will transfigure our world.

R-spec as a whole, and in the form of smaller study groups, has the backgrounds and qualifications that make it a prime source for reasonable extrapolations describing our future.

The group is pleased to offer itself and its conjectures and assessments as a resource for journalists, organizations, institutions, and any groups or persons wishing to to probe member views on the developing shapes of modernity.

Individuals interested in learning more about this aspect of r-spec's many activities may contact us.

Images Of The Near And Far Future

"Artists," said Canadian media philosopher Marshall McLuhan, "are the antennae of the race."

That is perhaps uniquely so in the case of writers of speculative literature. By thinking about and immersing oneself in subjectively lived environments of possible futures, one may well develop greater capacities to notice subtly prophetic aspects of the current time, and to extrapolate with greater precision and boldness the shape of the world now emerging.

Here we feature selected articles and notes by R-spec members which outline or describe the potential scenarios of our future.
